Parks Restructuring Having received and reviewed the employers’ latest proposal regarding the Parks Restructuring, it has become obvious that T.C.E.U. Local 416 has never been given equal standing throughout the Parks Restructuring process.

With your suggestions, we have compiled a list of demands that were presented to the employer on April 21, 2008. We are now actively in bargaining with the employer.

INDIVIDUAL CANDIDATE RESULTS ARE AS FOLLOWS, WITH THE DECLARED WINNERS NAME SHOWN BESIDE THE “POSITION -ELECT.” TOTAL NUMBER OF BALLOTS COUNTED: 2635 *MINOR VARIANCES IN SOME TOTALS FALL WITHIN ACCEPTABLE COUNTING ERROR MARGIN.
IMPORTANT NOTICE TO ALL LOCAL 416 LIBRARY UNIT MEMBERS October 14, 2007 LOCAL 416 SUCCESSFUL AT ARBITRATION ON SUNDAY BRANCH CLOSURES Local 416 is pleased to inform you that we won the arbitration launched on your behalf regarding the Sunday closures of branches. We argued at arbitration that this was an illegal layoff that violates our contract, and the grievance was upheld. Arbitrator Brian Keller has not yet released his reasons for the decision. We expect his reasons to follow in the days or weeks to come.
TO ALL LOCAL 416 MEMBERS EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF TORONTO - August 16, 2007 Yesterday we met with the City of Toronto to receive more specifics with respect to the Cost Containment measures and how they impact on our members in Local 416.We currently have 1280 Seasonal Employees working. Out of this number, 937 employees will have their seasonal work opportunity reduced by one (1) or two (2) weeks.
TO ALL LOCAL 416 MEMBERS EMPLOYED BY THE CITY OF TORONTO - August 13, 2007 As you are now aware, on Friday, August 10, 2007, at 12:00 p.m., City Manager, Shirley Hoy announced the City’s plan for Cost Containment.Local 416 was not consulted regarding the City’s plan and therefore did not recommend any of the proposed initiatives. Local 416 was not made aware of these plans until 11:00 a.m. the same day.
TO ALL LOCAL 416 LIBRARY UNIT MEMBERS - RE: COST CONTAINMENT August 13, 2007 As you are undoubtedly aware by now, the Library Board has endorsed the City Librarian’s Cost Containment plan to cut $1.2 million from the budget. This was done without consultation with Local 416.Part of the City Librarian’s plan is the closing of 16 branches on Sundays. (In fact, the City Librarian recommended closing all branches on Sundays, but only through a motion by a Board Member was service returned in the high priority neighbourhoods.)
LOCAL 416 SENIORITY AND SERVICE UPDATE OUTSIDE DIVISION After a long and detailed process we are pleased to announce that letters reflecting the “interim seniority and service dates” will soon be sent to those members in the Joint Review. .
